Business Stationery for Startups: Business Cards, Letterhead, Email Signature

The things every customer gets their hands on – designed consistently and with all legally required company details.

Updated: September 2026

Business cards, letterhead and email signature are often the first contact with your brand. In many countries business letters and emails must also show company details – in the UK, for example, the registered name, number and office. The agency sets this up correctly from the start.

Questionnaire: Business stationery

The more precisely you answer, the more precise the quote – without follow-up calls. Required questions are marked.

Frequently asked questions

Which company details must appear on letters and emails?
It depends on the country. In the UK, companies must show e.g. registered name, number, place of registration and registered office; in Germany and Austria similar rules apply. The agency implements them – check them with your accountant or lawyer.
Does the agency also handle printing?
On request. State in the questionnaire whether print-ready files are enough or the agency should organise printing.
Can this be done without a finished corporate design?
Better not. At least logo, colours and fonts should come first.

4. Budget & timing

The two questions that decide whether an agency can help you.

Budget for this project Excl. VAT. A realistic range saves everyone time – agencies scale the scope to it.

Is the budget approved?

Payment models you are open to

Would you be willing to pay part of the fee in company shares (equity)? Some agencies work with startups partly in exchange for a stake – this can lower the cash amount. Whether it is possible is always up to the agency.

How fixed is the deadline?

5. Working together

So you are matched with agencies that work the way you do.

Experience with agencies

Should the agency also take care of legal protection?Trademark search and registration for name and logo, design protection, domains and transfer of usage rights. Agencies usually coordinate this with an IP lawyer. Patents protect technical inventions and are a matter for a patent attorney, not a branding agency.
